President’s Message

Dear members and future members of the Deep Brain Stimulation Society,

I extend a cordial greeting to all of you. I am very proud to be one of the founding members of our Society and honored to have been elected President. I thank the founding members for their confidence and look forward to helping our Society grow.

The creation of this Society takes place in the context of a pandemic, which has disrupted all scientific and academic life for nearly 2 years. I hope that we can leave this crisis behind us soon, so that we can resume normal scientific activities and regular meetings.

Since its invention, DBS has grown in importance and has been applied in new treatments for several neurological and psychiatric pathologies. The goal of our Society is to promote the application of DBS by creating spaces for exchange, such as webinars or face-to-face conferences. In this respect, we are planning to organize the first annual international congress of our Society, which will take place in July 2022. I am confident that this congress will be an excellent platform for exciting and innovative science, and also provide opportunities for enjoyable constructive networking that will be the hallmarks of our annual meetings. The exact dates and location will be announced very soon.

To help our young Society grow, I invite all of you working in the field of DBS to become a member to foster close collaborations, exchange ideas, and debate the issues that concern us.
